Abstract :

We developed new simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers in different species of yam (Dioscorea sp.).

A microsatellite-enriched bank was created from Dioscorea alata, Dioscorea abyssinica and Dioscorea praehensilis.

Sixteen polymorphic loci were characterized.

Several of these markers are transferable to species of other Dioscorea sections.
